Meet Dr. Joseph H. Lohner

As your Tri-state, Skylands area orthodontist, I'm pleased to welcome you to our practice! I have been practicing in the Sussex County area since 1988. Every day I'm inspired by the skilled team of people I work with and the patients we treat. I look forward to sharing in your life-improving orthodontic experience, and feel honored that you've chosen our practice to provide your treatment.

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Loyola College of Maryland
• Master of Science degree in Anatomy from the University of Maryland
• Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland
• Orthodontic Certificate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey

Concurrently with dental school, Dr. Lohner worked part time as an emergency medical technician at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While at the University of Maryland, he was selected by the faculty for membership in the GORGAS Dental Honor Society, and earned the Anatomy Department Award and American Association of Orthodontists Award. Upon completing his orthodontic training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, his thesis was published by the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.

Continuing Education and Professional Recognition

There are constant advancements made in the orthodontic field. Continuing education offers the opportunity to stay current with the latest trends and treatment techniques. Dr. Lohner has been devoted to being a continual student. He and his team have dedicated their careers to giving their patients the best options to improve their smiles and facial appearance. Dr. Lohner is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He has served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, teaching in the postgraduate orthodontic residency program. He is a charter advisory board member for the Seattle Study Club affiliated Seminars for the Advancement of Dental Excellence.

In the field of orthodontics, Dr. Lohner has been given special recognition, receiving the "Most Outstanding Case Presentation" at the 1998 Eastern Strang-Tweed Meeting and named a "Top Orthodontist" by New Jersey Monthly Magazine in 2005. In 2009, he was honored to receive "Best Non-Extraction Treatment Teacher" by the orthodontic residents at UMDNJ.

Surrounded by Smiles, No Matter Where I am

Dr. Lohner and his wife, Denise, have lived in Sussex County since 1988. They raised their two sons in the beautiful Skylands area. He enjoys hiking with his dog, boating, photography, golf, and reading. He is an Eagle Scout and Dentistry Merit Badge Instructor for the Boy Scouts of America.
